*my* pregnancy necessities..

mind you, that EVERY pregnancy is different. infact, my first and second have been polar opposites themselves. my girls already have minds of their own :)  i'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact that i was living in the dry high desert in california in the middle of summer at 9 months pregnant with my first, and this time i'm in lowcountry, south carolina, in the middle of winter chilly weather... ::rolling eyes::

1// old navy leggings- i know that people SWEAR by the gap maternity leggings, but let's be honest, some of us cant spend $30 on some leggings. even if i could afford that, i wouldnt be able to bring myself to do it. i have lived in my old navy maternity leggings throughout this entire pregnancy. they are amazing for every trimester. and they're also pretty light, i would wear them during the spring/summer too with a light top. these are the full panel, but i have the low-rise and they're super comfy as well.

2// old navy ribbed tanks - i got these in my first trimester (they had a great sale so i got a bunch), they are soooo comfortable!!! just the regular womens tanks, not maternity. they're long enough to still cover the bottom of that belly during the last couple months. annnnd you still have them after you lose the weight. they retain their shape well. i guess that could go the other way around too with the maternity tanks, but sometimes maternity means more money. either way, a ribbed tank is a staple piece to have throughout your pregnancy.

3// burt's bees lip balm- my lips got super chapped, even in the first trimester. drinking lots of water helps, but a stuffy nose at night (causing me to sleep with my mouth open) does not. my favorite is the pomegranate oil balm. it's got a subtle tint to it, smells great, and doesnt taste too bad either ;)

4// L' Oreal studio secrets magic lumi highlighter - y'all.. preggo or not, this stuff is amazeballs. i have a super oily complexion anyway, and adding the pregnancy "glow" to the mix made my face look like a 13 year olds. not. pretty. this hides ANY imperfections. dark circles under the eyes? fixed. pimples/zits? fixed. redness in your cheeks? well... you get the picture. it's a great product to have in your makeup bag. ALWAYS!

5// mustela stretch mark double action lotion - i am well aware that they have linked stretch marks to genetics. but can ya blame a girl for trying?! i used palmers cocoa butter stretch mark cream when i was pregnant with ava. i only got a couple stretch marks on the sides of my hips. i think it definitely moisturized, but it didnt smell very good. and if you are or have been pregnant, you know that smell is a very big deal. i bought this off of amazon after i saw it mentioned by a couple different pregnant mommies' blogs. it's pretty amazing. a little costly, but it's well worth it. it smells glorious and it makes my tummy sooooo silky and smooth (said in my billy madison voice). i add some to my hips since that's my problem area. i've gotten a couple stretch marks on my belly button, but i blame my belly button piercing hole. why did i ever get that stupid thing? ugh.

6// naked juice- my big brother and his wife have my husband and i hooked on these! there are so many varieties (berry blast is my favorite), and they all taste amazing. even the green machine, which is packed with spinach, broccoli, wheat grass, ginger root, and parsley. i'm telling you. it's pretty tasty. and a great alternative to those foods that make you kind of queasy during the first couple months. try it. thank me later.

7// gummie prenatals - i could not get that giant prescribed horse pill of a prenatal down my throat for the life of my the first few months. it had me so worried because i knew i needed the vitamins, but that horse pill was not working with me. these gummie prenatals.... they taste like candy, which.. let's face it, every pregnant girl wants anyway. just something sweet. make sure it has folic acid in it whenever you buy them though, and iron. sometimes they will leave one or both of these out and both are important in the early stages.

8 + 9// unisom and vitamin B6 - the secret to no morning sickness. not joking ladies, it doesnt have to happen. when i was pregnant with ava, andy was still in the marine corp and they just gave us a brown bag full of all the meds we (i) needed. this time around, i was only prescribed the prenatal vitamins and so i didnt even think about this combo. when i started to get absolutely annoyed with being nauseous all the time (which didnt take very long), i finally went and bought these two. instant cure. you take one b6 vitamin with half of a unisom before bed, and voila! so simple, it's stupid. still doesnt hurt to keep the saltines on the nightstand. and no it doesnt make you groggy at all. the unisom is a very gentle sleep aid and taking only half lessens the blow even more.

i'm sure we all have our favorites during pregnancies, and i'd love to hear any and all of yours! this may not be my last go-round, so share away! and for those future or soon-to-be mama's, i hope this helped a little!
