unintentionally, i've taken a (very long) break from blogging. between having a newborn, moving across country, and finding a house to buy, i somehow got a little side-tracked. thanks to my AMAZING sister-in-law, she gave me back my motivation.

my daughter, ava, is almost a year and a half already. time flew by faster than ever imaginable. they tell you it does, but you never really understand it until it just smacks you in the face. everyday she wakes up and has learned something new about the world. i feel like i do, too, but it's a little more noticeable with a barely speaking one year old. she's actually MY teacher. i'm learning sign language because of her. i'm learning patience, responsibility, and pretty much everything else that's not covered in those two categories.

this is our first holiday season in our brand new house, in our brand new neighborhood. i've always absolutely loved EVERYTHING about fall. the holidays, the weather, the hot drinks and food to fill your insides with warmth, the layering of the clothes. i've never really gotten into the decorating part, though. probably because i was always aware that if i put up christmas lights they were likely to stay up year round, despite knowing it's a little white trash. i'm really wanting to go all out for ava for the holidays. giving our tight budget, it wont be the "all out" that i have pictured in my head, but i know our day will come when i pull down "the box" from the attic and it'll already have a seasons worth of stuff in it. one by one, i'll get what i want/need for the holidays. and even better, ava and i can make our own decorations... something i've always loved to do.

this year we'll be going to columbia for the holidays, so i'm not too worried about the decorating. my sister-in-law, her husband, and baby corgan will be living in columbia for their first christmas back to SC. super excited to spend the holidays with them!! i married into the best family, hands down. and ava would be lost without my nephew, her cousin, corgan. he's 7 months younger than ava, but she's sure that she's a grown up and he's just a baby.

well... not sure what else to write today, but i'm going to make this a regular thing. sooooo, blog ya tomorrow!
